Trouble posting photo   Go to last post Go to last unread

I take my recipe photos with my phone but otherwise use my tablet for EYB. Tonight I tried to post a photo, which I have done successfully many times, and nothing happened. I don't know if the requirements have changed or if I never noticed it before but it is asking for a JPG or PNG file. Is this why I can't upload my photo?

The requirement has always been that the image is a JPG or PNG. We just added the text to make it clearer to members you were unsure about which formats they could upload. If you are taking photos on your phone they will be in JPG or PNG formats so should upload fine. There may have been a browser issuue when you tried to upload as we have had lots of images uploaded without any problems in the past 24 hours. Try doing a page refresh on that recipe page then try the upload again. If it still doesn't work, please email us the URL for that recipe page and we will investigate further.

I just tried again, and it didn't work. https://thestonesoup.com...06/22/lemon-miso-salmon/

Barb_N - your link is to a blog post on Stonesoup not to the EYB recipe page. You upload the photo on the EYB page here - https://www.eatyourbooks...448368/lemon-miso-salmon I just tested uploading a photo on that page and it worked as it should. It's possible your image is corrupted. You could try emailing it to us and we can check it out.

Rinshin - I have replied to your email but I will also answer here in case anyone else has an issue uploading images. Your image had the suffix .jpeg whereas most images we see are .jpg as Windows requires a 3 character extension. Your file type is JPEG but the extension should be .jpg in order for it to upload. If you change the extension to .jpg it should upload fine.

Barb, were you able to post your photo?

Rinshin, since Jane posted it for me, tbh I haven't tried her suggestion to clear the cache and try again. I need to cook a new recipe to take a photo of. Tonight, however, I am making the same savory Dutch Baby from Food52 I made last week which hasn't been indexed here.

Barb - if you come across any Food52 recipes that are not in our index it will either because it is an untested recipes that Food52 have asked us not to include in their index. Or it is a newly added recipe on their site which will get indexed in the next day or so. If it is the former you can still add it to your Bookshelf as a Personal Recipe, with a link to the online recipe.

Is it this one? Caramelized onion Dutch baby with melty Gruyère If so, I've just indexed it. If it was another recipe, please do let me know which one specifically and I will investigate further. Food52 is our trickiest blog for the reasons Jane stated above -- I have been working on indexing a backlog of Food52 recipes that slipped through the cracks and figuring out a better way to keep track of them all going forward. If you come across any older Test-Kitchen approved recipe that are unindexed, please do continue to let us know, so we can remedy the omission!

Yes, that is the recipe. Thank you, Christine.

Thank you, Jane. I followed your suggestion and was able to post the photos.

I cannot post photos because all my ipad photos are jpeg format. I thought all ipad photos are jpeg.   It has been jpeg format in the past and I had no problems posting but now can't.

This is strange but this morning I tried again although it says only jpg photos, it took with my regular jpeg format.

There was a bug that was just reported to us yesterday that photos with the .jpeg extension were not uploading. This issue is now fixed. JPG and JPEG photos are the same format - the only difference is the extension at the end of the file name. We will clarify on the upload form that JPG/JPEG are allowed.
