I got one for Christmas - I have mainly been using the dough hook on mine for making bread.

I have had mine for several years and now wonder how I made do for so many years with just a hand-held mixer.  I love it for cakes, cookies and any other kind of recipe with a batter.  But where it really shone was this past Christmas when I made a recipe called Snow Pudding that my husband remembered from his childhood Christmases.  The recipe calls for whipping egg whites and partially set gelatin with lemon juice and sugar until it is light and ethereal.  My husband says he used to have to do mixing with the hand-held mixer for his mom for what seemed like hours but with the stand mixer I was able to just walk away and work on the custard that is poured over the final product.  Not only did this make it easier to make this recipe but it made the Snow Pudding so much better.  It was so good and the texture was cloud-like and cold.  I never liked Snow Pudding at his mom's house but I made this several times during the holiday season using the stand mixer.  Hers was lumpy and had chunks of unflavored gelatin in it while the stand mixer version was wonderful.

Not sure if your machine comes with additional attachments such as for pasta making, grinding meat etc but I use my machine for those things the most.  The meat ginder and the pasta maker really works well.

Great for bread making if you don't have a bread machine, I also used the attachment to grind meat for sausages making and process tomatoes from the garden in the summer.

Hi all, I am new to this forum and site, but wanted to chime in about the Kitchenaid stand mixer. If any of you have questions about your machine, I would be happy to help with you inquiries when time permits, since I have a very busy chef business and have been a culinary ambassador for 14 years with allot of product knowledge! I currently own 6 stand mixers and have, I believe, every attachment ( need to check on the latter statement) the NEW spiralizer is just hitting the market at williams sonoma & sur la table has had it for about 2 months...happy cooking everyone!
