Thanks Jane, have just done that. Tony

Looks great so far! I've been playing with it a bit on my iPad this morning. I signed up for a couple of the "cookbook giveaways" and noticed that the comments cut off slightly on the right-hand side.

I still have to login every time I use the mobile site even though I check the box to retain the info on my iPhone.

As a user of mobile over desktop, this is an outstanding issue from the previous incarnation, and has got worse in this version because every time the browser reloads or has an error (already happened with first use) I have to log back in. Still really annoying.

I also prefer the look and feel of the old mobile site as it felt tailored to my smartphone rather than looking at a browser page window within safari.

The new feeds are a good idea and nicely done.

I appreciate being able to access all the features from my smart phone.  That should be very helpful when shopping.  However, the site is very slow to respond, especially given that this is Sunday morning.  Also, as others have pointed out, the home page is very cluttered.  Very little of a lot of things is less useful than a good helping of a few things you need the most plus easy ways to get to the rest.

It's all too American for me. Is there any way of homing in on British books/content?

pgarcia - thanks for that feedback. I have passed it on to our developer.

JoBills - have you tried adding the icon to your home screen? This is explained here. I'm also adding a Help section explaining how to do it. Then when you click the icon you are automatically signed in. I saved the Home Page but you can save whichever page you use most (just make sure you are signed in when you do it). Then EYB is one click away and you don't need to sign in.

PinchofSalt - of course the problem is that everyone has different ideas of "the few things you need the most". The Home Page is meant to be a brief introduction to the new content on the site and you then click to see more. I'm not sure why you are finding the site slow. But the good news is now this redesign is out the way we are planning to upgrade our servers and the site should become much faster. That will be in a few weeks and we will make an announcement.

Damsonette - I'm sorry to hear you are finding EYB too American. Ironically the two founders of EYB - me and my sister Fiona - are Brits though I now live in the USA and Fiona in New Zealand. You can filter the books, magazines and blogs by country in the filters on the right and just see those published in the UK

I really like the new website.  The only problem I have encountered so far is the page back and forward arrows in my browser don't always work.  For instance if I go to "My Bookshelf" or "Library" and click on a book or blog, I cannot go back to the page before.  If I go into a recipe in the book or blog I can page back to the book or blog, but then stiill can't page back from there.  The page forward/backward buttons are working in the forums though.  I am on my PC right now with Windows 10 and an up to date Chrome browser.  Nikki

Aggie92 - that is strange. I also have Windows 10 and up-to-date Chrome and I tried clicking into books, blogs, and magazines from My Bookshelf. The back button worked once but wouldn't go back further. I have logged it as a bug with our developer. Thanks for the feedback.

Update: I found that if I click the Back button 3 times when in Library or My Bookshelf, it then went back. It's still a bug, but at least a workaround until our developer can fix it.

Update 4/30/16 - this issue is now fixed.

I use this site daily and I'm happy to see that it now seems faster. I agree totally with Cati that on an iPad, being able to enlarge the page using the 2 finger gesture is essential for my enjoyment of the site. I hate sites that don't have it, and for example stopped using others such as Design Sponge completely because they don't allow it. Being able to enlarge and reduce the size at will with the pinch of your fingers is something that makes the iPad easier and more fun to to use; it really helps as our eyes get weaker, and to help you tap on the correct spot. I do like the features of this site a lot, so please bring this back.

I like the look of the "My Bookshelf" page; especially nice to see the food photos for online recipes. My recipe page definitely seems easier to read.
I have a Microsoft Surface & can still use the 2-finger gesture to expand the page.
There does seem to be a slight delay when searching my recipes, either when clicking or touching the search icon. Had to do it a few times before it responded. Also I thought previously that the ENTER key could be used to activate the recipe search, but it doesn't seem to be working on my device.
I am also getting a "long running script" message sometimes, & the links to online recipes are very slow to respond.

I have been out of town for a few days and just opened EYB on my IPad. What a surprise but I think I am going to really like the new filters options. I too am using the latest operating system from Apple and at first could not enlarge the print as others mentioned but I just kept trying to do it every so often as I was scrolling through these posts and all of a sudden it started working.

I am having no problem enlarging text on my iPad. I have the latest iOS. I wonder if it is iPad model specific. I have an iPad Air 2.
#36 Posted : Sunday, April 24, 2016 1:12:36 PM(UTC)
Okay, I take that back. It depends on where I am whether I can enlarge the text. On the home page I can't enlarge text. Once I drill down to something, I can enlarge. Fro me, this isn't a problem on a 9" model, but it could be a problem on an iPad Mini or a phone. What I would really love is an EYB app!

PeggyB - interesting point. I have been unable to do zoom on my iPad, an older model. Could any member who has been able to zoom, please post what model they have and what pages can zoom so I can pass it on to our developer.

#38 Posted : Sunday, April 24, 2016 1:22:27 PM(UTC)

I did browse the home page - that's about it so far. And I like it. It is easier for me to navigate the home page and select items on my iPad. Will find out more as I explore further. Thanks for the efforts. I use the site every day!

#39 Posted : Sunday, April 24, 2016 1:36:15 PM(UTC)

PeggyB - what is about an app that you prefer to using the live site? The EYB database is huge and since an app runs on your phone, that would be a drain on your data storage.

Cookbook giveaways, new cookbooks, and calendar of cookbook events are too big.  View all latest notes in blue over faded text underneath looks strange.  On the right of latest notes, the images and text seem ghostlike ie you see half the image of a person and fades to text.

I like the photos of recipes.  Not having problems with speed using wifi.  Using laptop now.

Hi Jane. I just tried a bunch of zoom testing on my 3 year old IPad running OS9.3.1. I find that the zoom mostly works after I reduce the page size first and then only if I do not remove fingers from the screen. Once I take my fingers from the screen the page snaps back to regular size as if it was made from elastic. I have tried this on the home page, forum, bookshelf, library and blog. So farI have had the best luck on getting the zoom to stay on the home page. I am not at home so can't give you the exact version of IPad I have but under settings it says this is a model MD524LL/A. I hope this helps your developers.

Any way of adding star rating under the notes if available.  I know some note writers to do not assign star rating, but it helps to see the rating if available.

#43 Posted : Sunday, April 24, 2016 2:17:59 PM(UTC)

hillsboroks - that doesn't sound like a zoom feature that is very usable! Our developer will look at whether it can be added back (and work properly).

Rinshin - I assume you mean just the star rating that the person who wrote the Note added? I can see that may be helpful. Is that a feature other members would like?
