Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Crimson cabbage borscht with dill tofu "sour cream"

    • Rocklizard on May 12, 2023

Always a favorite! Don't skip the dill tofu cream

    • Rocklizard on February 17, 2025

The ingredient list for this soup is wrong. There isn't any thyme, parsley, zucchini or leeks. Here is the correct list of ingredients: EVOO, Onions, canned tomatoes, cabbage, bay leaf, beets, carrot, potato, beans, stock, mirin, beet greens, lemon juice, tofu, rice vinegar, fresh dill

  • Winter white soup

    • SugarFree_Vegan on December 12, 2013

For speed I used bottled red bell peppers to make the drizzle. I also used some parsnips instead of the potato as I had some in the fridge. A lovely and stunning looking soup.

  • Roasted corn soup

    • Rocklizard on July 27, 2023

This soup is delicious with fresh corn. A bowl full of summer!! Note that the ingredient list on this entry has a lot of items that are not in the recipe. The actual ingredients are corn, red bell pepper, poblano or jalapeno pepper, evoo, scallions, garlic, tomatoes, shallots, stock, and russet potatoes

  • Gazpacho

    • Rocklizard on August 14, 2024

This is the best Gazpacho recipe! I make this every summer when the tomatoes are at their prime.

  • Sautéed Swiss chard with olives

    • rmardel on November 10, 2020

This recipe was the starting point for what has become a family favorite. I added lemon juice, a scallion, and rosemary and prefer this dish with green olives.

  • Cranberry relish with apples and pears

    • rmardel on December 02, 2022

This is a very good cranberry relish. It is tart more than sweet, with nice fruity complexity, and goes beautifully with turkey, pork or ham. It would probably go with anything needing a tart fruity punch. Easy and delicious.

  • Herbed ravioli with porcini pesto and tofu "ricotta"

    • Shelmar on May 13, 2021

Drom John rates this 4 stars for the pesto and "ricotta," but 2 for the pasta.

  • Herbed pasta dough

    • Shelmar on May 13, 2021

Drom John blames the cook, but this came out pasty/bready and overwhelmed the pesto and "ricotta." Shelmar hated, and was not the cook.
