Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Classic mac

    • swegener on January 28, 2015

meh, I think I expected too much from this recipe. I felt like for the calories there should be more flavor. I think I ought to have tried a variation, but wanted to please a wide range of picky palates.

  • Jalapeño popper mac

    • Kduncan on August 02, 2021

This is fine, it's not my favorite, but we had jalapenos from the garden to use up and it was a good way to use them.

  • Tuna mac

    • foodgloriousfood on June 30, 2023

Enjoyed the tuna salad component and found myself trying to stop myself eating too much of it before adding it to the mac. Will keep this recipe as a good fresh tasting Tuna Salad. But as a Mac and Cheese dish it was good not great. I had to add extra everything to give it enough flavor. The standard plain cheese Mac and Cheese in this book is amazing. This is the first variation I have tried so far. We decided we would enjoy this more if it was baked afterwards topped with breadcrumbs, but as the Tuna Salad has mayo that might have been greasy. Probably won’t make again to try that out.

  • Vermont white cheddar mac

    • Kduncan on June 08, 2021

Probably the easiest mac & cheese recipe in the book. Still tastes great.

  • Smoky bacon mac

    • sarahawker on May 27, 2015

11 y.o. son made this for the family, it was very good. Incredibly rich, so it's not on any diet plan, but a nice treat. Could probably cut the lb. of bacon in half but I have boys and they loved this.

    • Kduncan on January 04, 2021

Definitely one of my least favorite so far from this book. Unlike the picture it didn't have the baking with panko on top in the recipe, which made it one note.

  • Macximus

    • katryna on March 07, 2026

It was fine, my husband and I just didn’t like it as much as other Mac and cheeses (including others from this book. I made it bc my baby is eating table food now and so I wanted to include some vegetables. Think it could have actually used more spinach.

  • Spring mac

    • Kduncan on May 24, 2020

Easy recipe, but definitely, not our favorite from this book.

  • Mac the goat

    • Kduncan on March 30, 2020

Liked this recipe, lots of goat cheese at the front but it is calmed down by the other cheese. Took a bit longer in the stove to get the bread crumbs brown then recipe time.
