      A bit labor intensive, but quite yummy. Rich flavored gravy. It worked well with faux meat crumbles instead of ground sirloin, although more oil was necessary to substitute for the meat fat & juices.

  • Roasted red pepper and potato casserole

      This was good, but probably needed more salt & pepper. It takes quite a bit of effort to put together, roasting red peppers, sauteeing mushrooms, making the sauce, par-cooking potatoes. An interesting combination of flavors, but a dish I'll reserve for special occasions.

  • Artichoke lasagne with tomato-basil sauce

      Wow, what a rich & cheesy lasagna! A nice change of pace from meat & red sauce-laden lasagna. Can be made ahead which is helpful as it takes quite a bit of preparation. I used frozen & canned artichokes rather than fresh which did speed things up a bit.
