Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Roasted (Levi) Roots soup

    • meggan on January 30, 2017

Easy, tasty, healthy. I burnt the veggies so it looked a little uninviting. I would add a chili next time.

  • Sticky jerk spare ribs

    • greedyrosie on March 28, 2018

Not unpleasant but not very flavourful. Quite a lot of work for average ribs.

  • Chicken, pepper and squash curry

    • Carol.Furness on April 24, 2017

This is a tasty curry and quick to make. I made it with diced chicken breast and used low fat coconut milk. Went down well, clean plates all round.

  • Ceviche, Cuban style

    • Acarroll on October 25, 2024

This was meh but I think it was my fault. I had to sub cod for salmon (wouldn't recommend). I was generous with the herbs and along with the cilantro and mint, added some lemon balm and basil because I had them. I did like how herby it was, the cod just turned out to be a weird texture. It also turned gray for some reason which was not very appealing.

Publishers Text

In each recipe, Levi spices up a family favourite - so pork chops are transformed into Pork Chops Calypso, a traditional winter casserole becomes Beef in Stout with Sweet Potato Dumplings, a simple fish meal emerges as Smoked Fish Choka, a classic dessert is remodeled into Mango, Banana and Passion Fruit Trifle, a fruit loaf is spiced up with rum and a milkshake becomes a Tropical Fruit Shake-it. With his inimitable style, Levi dubs it up to create a selection of simple dishes that taste, in his words, 'fabulocious'! From lip-smacking barbecue recipes and dishes for family celebrations to flavoursome fruit puddings for summer picnics and delicious dinners, Levi brings the laid-back spirit of his home islands to every meal you make, using easily accessible ingredients.
