Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Chinese barbecued pork (Char siew)

    • Sandiegolemons on June 04, 2017

We loved this recipe. The Chili and Soy Sambal was a little too spicy for me but my wife loved it. The peanut and sweet and sour dipping sauce would go perfect with it for me next time. 4 stars and definitely recommend. Serve with Jasmine rice.

  • Grilled pork strips (Moo ping)

    • Sandiegolemons on June 04, 2017

This is turning out to be a great cookbook when we are looking for an Asian flare. We all love this dish and we marinaded the pork for five hours. It doesn't need a dipping sauce and is perfect with Jasmine rice. The big surprise is that leftovers are stellar with scrambled eggs. It could be my new favorite breakfast to go. 4 stars

Publishers Text

From Korean short ribs and Indian tandoori chicken to Japanese yakitori and Vietnamese Beef Salad, Asian grilled foods have become American favorites. In this follow-up to her acclaimed Cracking the Coconut, Su-Mei Yu--owner of Saffron restaurant, known for its Thai-styled grilled chicken--brings the techniques and cuisine of Asia to American Barbecues.

This book features techniques and foods to cook over an outdoor fire, including skewers, grilled and wrapped dishes (Vegetables in Rice Paper), wrapped and grilled (Thai Quesadilla), and grilled salads and fruits, along with easy-to-put-together condiments and sauces. The recipes are accompanied by more than 30 full-color photographs throughout. For barbecuers everywhere, Asian Grilling takes backyard cooking beyond burgers and steaks.
