      Pretty good winter soup.

Excellent! Easy and delicious! I subbed pecans for hazelnuts. I will definitely be making this again!!

  • Raspberry-hazelnut thumbprint cookies

I made these for the Bitten Word blog Christmas cookie challenge. What a disappointment. Very expensive to make--needed a whole pound of unshelled hazelnuts and required a purchase of a whole bag of white flour for 1/2 cup. (Recipe is gluten free.) I would have had to buy oat flour too if I hadn't made my own from oatmeal. And it took two sticks of butter for 24 cookies. The dough was soft and greasy. There was nothing in the recipe about chilling it at any time to firm it up, but I chilled it before scooping for an hour. It didn't help. The cookies spread all over the pan, dumping out the jam. Not a great taste, very unattractive and completely unsuitable for gift-giving. I'm an experienced baker so I knew this wasn't my fault, but a novice cook would be very discouraged. Much better thumbprint, and gluten-free, recipes available.

In my previous note, that should be white RICE flour. As stated, recipe is gluten-free.
