Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Orange-pecan cream cheese

    • Ganga108 on February 24, 2022

Lovely, if a little old fashioned, spread. I am all for retro recipes. I added salt and white pepper to avoid it being too bland.

  • Olive-herb cream cheese

    • Ganga108 on February 24, 2022

Lovely, if a little old fashioned, spread. I am all for retro recipes. I added black pepper and chilli pine nuts to tart it up and avoid it being too bland.

  • Kamal's sweet tomato chutney

    • peaceoutdesign on November 14, 2024

This has good flavor and I hope a good consistency because I used half the vinegar, sugar, and salt. It seemed like way too much fluid for the amount of tomatoes. I also added sliced shishito pepper since they were handy.

  • Daikon ginger pickles

    • mjes on March 04, 2022

I was nearly out of Kansas City Canning Company's Radish Pickles and wasn't quite ready to give them up. So, looking for radish pickle recipes, I came upon this Tassajara recipe ... with the added advantage of fond memories from a very different time. I went with demerara sugar knowing it would slightly discolor the white daikon ... but I prefer the flavor. I followed the directions and used rice vinegar to complement the mirin rice wine. While I hadn't made these for years, I absolutely love them. They are very versatile compared to Japanese quick daikon pickles. Try these on a taco. Yum.
