Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Vanilla-brown butter sablé cookies

    • twoyolks on December 24, 2022

The cookies are good but very rich. In the end, I'd probably prefer a simpler sable without vanilla or brown butter.

  • Kish family two-bread stuffing

We all loved the combination of cornbread and white bread (including some random sandwich bread heels I had in the freezer). Half the recipe (one 9"x13" pan) was plenty for 8 people. I added fresh thyme along with the sage and sauteed the vegetables in butter instead of oil. Assembled the day before, reheated covered initially, then uncovered (not sure of total time - 50-60 min?).

  • Acorn squash with coconut custard

    • babyfork on November 05, 2023

Made this for Thanksgiving 2021. I followed the recipe exactly and mine turned out looking like the photo. I really thought these were going to be spectacular, but I was disappointed. I didn't even eat the leftovers. I wouldn't bother making these again for TDay. I might try the recipe one more time and tweak it a bit simply because I was really surprised that I didn't love these!
