Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Hot honey chicken sandwiches

    • southerncooker on February 14, 2021

These were good. For the hot honey sauce I used Mikes Hot Honey as the honey in her sauce recipe. We made the sandwiches as she suggested with mayonnaise, butter lettuce, dill pickle chips, on a brioche bun. They were a bit messy to eat but good.

  • In 'n' Out my kitchen burgers

    • Amycado on April 21, 2024

Tasted fine, but the burgers felt too soft / mushy. Maybe its the mayo? Maybe I'm learning we aren't a fan of turkey burgers?

  • Sambal-spiced chicken burgers with papaya slaw

    • Rachaelsb on July 04, 2021

These were unexpectedly delicious. Perfect hot summer dinner. Papaya (not my favorite) worked really well and will try mango next time. Flavors were great...burger had nice spice to it and when combined with harissa mayo and slaw...WOW!

  • Roasted red pepper pasta

    • Amycado on June 20, 2023

Quick, easy and well liked by all, made exactly as written!

  • Wild mushroom orzo "risotto"

    • Amycado on April 21, 2024

Tasty - even kids that aren't happy about mushrooms enjoyed it. Had to cook a little longer because it seemed too liquid-y.

  • Rustic lamb pasta bake

    • southerncooker on December 13, 2020

This was really good. Son and I both liked. I made a half recipe. I omitted the cinnamon since we're not fans of cinnamon in savory dishes.

    • Happykikkers on July 09, 2024

Used beef instead of lamb. Husband & I both liked it. Very meaty and would be nice accompanied by a fresh salad. Makes lots of servings, which was great as we had leftovers for later in the week and also had some left to stock the freezer.

  • Sheet pan salmon with pesto butter, corn & tomatoes

    • hbakke on November 15, 2021

Quick and simple dinner. The pesto butter went well with the salmon. I served this with baby arugula mixed with the corn and tomatoes for a kind of salad. I would make this again.

  • Swedish meatballs with blackberry jam

    • gamulholland on January 29, 2021

The meatballs are really tasty, and the sauce and jam combo is delicious. Popular with the kids.

    • Amycado on June 22, 2023

Surprisingly easy and delicious, though turned out a little on the salty side. I really liked the blackberry jam with this meal, but it was a hard sell for everyone else. Moving forward, I might go with a store bought jam for myself and save some effort. Lovely with egg noodles, but mashed potatoes might be better.

  • Sheet pan pork chops with asparagus & mushrooms

    • Rachaelsb on April 19, 2021

This was such an easy and delicious dinner. I loved the simplicity but great flavor.

  • Sheet pan sausage with peppers & onions

    • southerncooker on January 30, 2021

I used Bourbon apple chicken sausage and a bag of frozen peppers and onions. Turned out delicious. We ate with frozen baked soda pretzels and whole grain mustard.

  • Roasted pears with vanilla-infused caramel sauce

    • Amycado on June 22, 2023

Low effort, delicious and comforting dessert that makes you feel a little fancy.
