      Ooh - this was tasty on a cool spring night. I used chicken stock and because I was in a hurry, Annie's flaky biscuit dough with cheese grated on top. Next time I will make the dough as written and add cider as suggested.

      I used Pink Pearl apples from the first big crop my tree produced. I used brown sugar instead of maple syrup, just cause I wasn't sure I wanted the maple flavor in this. Spices I added were cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and a pinch of cayenne. I didn't measure, just added to taste. I followed the recipe tip not to bother peeling the apples. I pureed the sauce in the Vitamix and it came out silky smooth, so no worries there. Flavor and texture both very good.
