Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Lemon chicken with penne & asparagus

The final product didn't match the effort. Would just cook chicken in a separate pan at the same time as the pasta cooks.

  • Taco salad

    • dani_717sdz on May 19, 2026

Very similar to my favorite version, that my family makes! We mix Zesty Italian with the Catalina and try to get the Taco Doritos, which can unfortunately be hard to find.

Publishers Text

Old Time Hawkey, aka Fritz, starts every video by greeting his followers in his soothing voice. He is always there to offer a hot apple cider or an ice cream sundae on a tough day, to help his followers drift off to sleep with a story or a retro video game.

His first cookbook, Old Time Hawkey's Recipes from the Cedar Swamp, features 100 cozy recipes divided into four categories: indoor, companions, campfire, and drinks. Comforting recipes like Banana French Toast, Dutch Oven Nachos, and Pine Needle Tea are accompanied by recommendations for movies, games, and music. Ten recipes include QR codes to never-before-seen videos.

Fritz is a storyteller by nature; he includes stories about his life in his Michigan cabin (with his dogs Donnybrook and Kris Draper), which reveal how the nature around him shapes his cooking. This book takes you on an adventure through the forest, then helps you cook a comforting meal before drifting off to sleep.
