    My SO enjoyed this much more than I did. The active time on this isn't that bad, as you cook everything together pretty quickly then stuff the peppers and bake. We had to substitute cornstarch for the gumbo file powder.

• Buttermilk and honey Tupelo pancakes

    Made this with fresh milled soft white wheat, and substituted whey for buttermilk. I also added blueberries. These were good but highly filling, next time I will halve the recipe.

• Appalachian egg rolls with smoked jalapeño sauce, pickled onions, and pulled pork

    Lots of pre-recipes needed to cook this. And then I messed up on the main recipe, not marinading the pulled pork or cooking down the spinach. The thing is the smoked jalapeño sauce as a dipping sauce is just so good it doesn't matter. These came up really well despite my mistakes.

• Pulled pork with Tupelo dry rub

    I add 1/2 cup water to the pot as the rub contains sugar and the first time I made this it seared on the bottom. I also added some BBQ sauce after shredding. It took 4 hrs for 5lb pork shoulder. Recipe calls for 10lb at 6hrs.

• Not your mama's meat loaf with tomato rosemary gravy

    Thought this was just okay -- really just a normal meatloaf, which in and of itself is not a super exciting dish. Gravy didn't do much to differentiate, either

• Flat-out fantastic flat iron steak au poivre

    We used a high quality bourbon and the flavor came through strongly. Needed to add salt. The result was this was not a family favorite although I enjoyed the steak with the gravy.
