This will be the second time I am making this as an appetizer for my Thanksgiving gathering. It is a straightforward recipe. The copy I own shows the pate in a beautiful deep set country bowl and the clarified butter topping is littered with crispy sage leaves. Just beautiful. Half the recipe and you still have more than enough.
Made this last christmas, it was great to have it prepared in advance. Just go easy on the star anise, i'll just use 1 next time.
This is a great head start to christmas and handy to have on hand all year round. I agree with the previous comment, just 1 star anise is fine.
Love these; the ingredients come together to make a really tasty biscuit. Got to go easy on the baking powder, though, as otherwise the texture is more like a cake than a biscuit (though the husband actually quite likes that). Have made with just chocolate and orange - nice, but missed the cranberries. Also works with fresh cranberries, which give a lovely fruity burst.
Made this to use up 3 apples that had seen better days. Delish, and pretty quick for a dessert.
