Can substitute red pepper flakes for chiles de arbol, and parsley or basil for cilantro.

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

This recipe did not work for me. My butter burned and the shells stuck to the shrimp. I also don’t really like getting my hands messy when I eat.

Very good. Used 2 lbs of large shell on EZ peel shrimp but kept quantities of sauce the same. Chillies add a nice kick, I ended up using 2 chillies since kids were eating and it was perfect. Quick, simple, and delicious. Will be making again.

Nice alternative to shrimp scampi, a favorite in our household. It's similar with the addition of tomato paste which is caramelized in butter and olive oil. I used high quality shell-on shrimp from my local fish market and served it on organic pappardelle pasta. https://forums.egullet.org/topic/157248-cooking-from-dining-in-nothing-fancy-and-sweet-enough-by-alison-roman/?do=findComment&comment=2432005

Wonderfully easy and just the right balance. Used 1 lb shrimp that was peeled and deveined (it's what the store had that looked fresh) and served over pasta. Wonderful and the pasta easily soaked up the extra butter sauce. I used Aleppo pepper for the flakes based on heat sensitivity of my husband. The lemon really set off the sauce.

Personally I don't think you need a recipe for shrimp in garlic butter. This is as good as shrimp gets.

So good. I made half a recipe with 1.2 lb of head-on shrimp. The sauce was very good and I did not feel that it was too rich or greasy, the chiles de arbol added a nice kick.
