  • animal fat of your choice
  • spirits of your choice

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Fat washing spirit is a method of infusing spirits with flavors that may be present in the fats - not necessarily animal but nut fats are also used. Bourbon washed with bacon is combined with maple syrup and bitters and served on the rocks is an example use. Clever and amusing.
