Can substitute lean ground beef for Italian sausage, dried basil for fresh basil, small curd cottage cheese for ricotta cheese, and dried oregano for fresh oregano.

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

This is the basis of my lasagna recipe. Changes I have made over the years: 1/2 Italian Sausage 1/2 Ground Chuck (drained of course) and I use our own marinara sauce. and make our own pasta. We double the recipe and create 3 full layers in a big pan. This lasagna freezes beautifully so we spend a day cooking and have several meals to pull out of the freezer during the summer months when it is too hot to make this.

Have been making this version of lasagne for decades. It was first published in 1965 with cottage cheese, ground beef, and pork. This time used ground beef only with homemade canned marinara sauce and added quickly blanched and chopped kale to cottage cheese filling mixture. Comfort food that is very good and quick to make. Can be prepped ahead and baked later.
