Can substitute any crusty bread for rye bread.

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Love this recipe - it ticks off all the boxes that make this a "keeper," so it's no coincidence that this recipe is also in Perelman's book by that name. It is ridiculously easy to make and is really tasty. Everyone in my house absolutely loved it, so check, check, check. I made it with Russian Rye, but since whole rye breads are not terribly easy to find where I live, I'm sure I'll end up trying it with another type of rustic bread, although the flavor profile of the rye nicely complements the whole German/Eastern Euro vibe of this dish.
