    The caramel apple topping is delicious and not overly sweet when served atop plain oats. I was a little lazy and didn't peel the apples (I used four very small ones), which was fine, but the texture would be more unctuous and melting had they been peeled, so next time I'll try that. I used quick-cooking steel cut oats, so the dish only took about twenty minutes to prepare.
