Takeout-style sesame noodles from The Essential New York Times Cookbook: Classic Recipes for a New Century (page 355) by Amanda Hesser

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Fresh noodles give this dish a wonderful chew. Definitely worth the search for them. This is a fast and easy dish and perfect for a weeknight.

Meh. I've liked other sesame noodles better.

Great sauce, really loved it and the entire dish is easy to make once the various sauces and vinegar are in the house. Having said that, it is a bit sweet for me, will reduce the sugar next time and up the ginger a bit. I also added some carrots to complement the cucumber. Next time some peppers as well.

This humble little dish was one of the best things I ate all week.... Should you be looking for a cold sesame noodle dish, this one is a winner.
