    I was so disappointed in this cake :( It was on my "I want to Cook this" list for years. First the cooking time is off, after 50 minutes the knife comes back clean but still, when you cut it , it is slightly undone. Second, the proportion of ground almonds is too high, they overpower the dough and give it a grainy texture that is too heavy and not really cake-like. Finally, marinating the anise overnight is way too long, the anise flavor was already almost overpowering after just one hour. Might make again with drastic changes and additions because the idea of this cake is nice, but I was utterly disappointed.
