  • Cherry Bakewell tart

    • Agaillard on December 10, 2023

I made this with Pierre Hermé sweet pastry recipe since it was also almond bassed, changing the toppings to strawberry jam and candied strawberries for picky children. Everyone loved the cake, and both children finished it. However I could not achieve the white icing, mine was transparent, I think I put too much water in it, and i wish the amount of water needed for the amount of icing sugar was indicated.

  • Griddled asparagus with Berkswell

    • Agaillard on April 09, 2016

I rated 3.5. Because I really did not need a recipe to pan fry asparagus with olive oïl and sprinkle it with cheese. But this is so good and so simple. One of my favorite ways to eat asparagus :)

  • Smoked salmon with Asian dressing

    • Agaillard on July 17, 2019

Nice, tasty, and healthy - though it was not necessarily worth writing a recipe for, in my opinion (I would have easily had the idea to combine those by myself!)... Enjoyable nonetheless!! :)

  • Crisp Parmesan chicken

    • digifish_books on May 12, 2015

'View complete recipe' link is defunct.

  • Steak with grilled peppers and coriander salsa

    • Agaillard on October 09, 2016

Simple - yet soooo enjoyable. I loved it with a perfect medium rare but grilled outside steak, the flavours combined each other very well. Miam :)

    • Agaillard on March 30, 2020

Made yesterday... I still like it, but it was not as nice as I remembered. I think I have very slightly overcooked the steak and I like it quite grilled outside and very rare inside, I should cook it for a shorter time on a higher flame I think. The sauce also was less nice that I remembered, I am really not sure why. Yet this dish is so simple to make, healthy and flavourful, that I will make again. I served this time with a serving of rice.

  • Lizzie's Kitchen Irish soda bread

    • Agaillard on August 13, 2019

Quick and nice! Be careful to respect the baking instructions, in particular temperature and baking time - I messed up with this, but my family loved it anyway and asked me for the recipe - will bake again. Note that the link to the recipe doesn't exist anymore. They put a similar one but changed the flours to add wholemeal flour (which I am not really a fan of, and am afraid will make this too heavy on the stomach). Anyway, it is there : https://www.olivemagazine.com/recipes/family/soda-bread/

  • Orange drizzle cake

    • Agaillard on October 26, 2016

Nice and easy :) My two French guests loved it and asked for more ;)

  • Star anise, almond and clementine cake

    • Agaillard on December 01, 2024

I was so disappointed in this cake :( It was on my "I want to Cook this" list for years. First the cooking time is off, after 50 minutes the knife comes back clean but still, when you cut it , it is slightly undone. Second, the proportion of ground almonds is too high, they overpower the dough and give it a grainy texture that is too heavy and not really cake-like. Finally, marinating the anise overnight is way too long, the anise flavor was already almost overpowering after just one hour. Might make again with drastic changes and additions because the idea of this cake is nice, but I was utterly disappointed.
