Search My Bookshelf + Online Recipes   Go to last post Go to last unread

Hi, sometimes I want to search all recipes that are "available to me", meaning in My Bookshelf or in Online Recipes.

Is it possible to search both places together, rather than two separate searches?

Thanks!

If you search your Bookshelf Recipes you are searching all recipes "available to you" as designated by you as on your Bookshelf. However you cannot search every Online Recipe in the EYB Library and every recipe on your Bookshelf at the same time. They are separate searches.

I have the same issue - why can't you carry over a search? It seems such a logical thing to want to do - you can't find what you want in your "own" recipes, so you want to search using the same terms, filters etc. in the Library. Can't really understand why that's not an option.

If it worked that way, then adding a blog to your bookshelf would be meaningless. You can make it work for you the way you want it to by adding every blog in the blog list to your bookshelf.

I find the way it works elegant. I only follow (have added to my bookshelf) select blogs I've found to be good sources for me. And I'm sure it's helpful to those folks who have limited interests due to specific diets -- vegetarians, vegans, diabetics, etc.

I thought the online recipes tab includes more than just the blog recipes. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Aren't the EYB preview recipes also included? And some food magazines make a portion of their recipes available on their website.

Hmm... good point. I'd missed those fine points.

I do understand why my bookshelf, and the library, are treated separately on EYB. Nonetheless, it's a common situation for me to search first for something in the books I own (my preferred sources), and then if I don't find what I'm looking for, to want to search either in the whole EYB catalogue or in indexed online recipes. I wish I didn't need to re-type my search terms.

Try just copy-paste if you have multiple terms.  What seems like easy and logical from "the top" can be ferociously difficult underneath.

Copy & paste only works for items you key in .. it doesn't appear to capture filters you may have set!

Drat, I so rarely use them that I forgot about them and then have to remember to get rid of them for the next search.  Although it does solve the typing problem, which I think is where my brain was going.  Interesting the different ways people use search and kudos to Jane for providing so many options.

Does anyone use a consistent set of filters often enough that a template would be helpful?  Assuming such a thing could be coded in?
