Very pleased with our recent Air Fryer purchase the Instant Vortex Plus (front loading), ideal for our workplace breakfast and lunchtime quick meals for 2 people. It's basically a fast cooking convention oven but so much easier to clean and maintain. This Instant Pot branded model even has a filter, which does a really surprisingly great job with reducing cooking smells at our work environment.

Iinitially thought  Air Fryers was just a passing fad, but am now fully converted especially if only cooking for 1 or 2 people.

Some simple recipe ideas available online, and I've also purchased one ot two basic cookbooks for Air Fryers but can't seem to find cookbooks that have some more creative cooking ideas, a sort of Ottolenghi cookbook version for AirFryers.

I am aware that many recipes can be adapted from most conventional cookbooks, and that Air Fryers are more limited in what they are able to cook, but for a gadget that can Fry (okay it's "Air Fry" so there are some limits), Roast, Bake, Reheat (so very useful in our office environment), Grill and even De-hydrate what cookbooks I've seen on offer don't appear to be making the most of all these cooking possibilities.

Does anyone have any slightly more imaginative Air Fryer cookbooks titles to suggest?

An air-fryer is basically a convection oven (rotating heat) so any cooking is faster. The only thing that can't be done in it is delicate baking. With that said, most oven recipes will work. Frozen food these days usually has air fryer directions.

So what do you do if you have neither an air fryer nor a convection oven nor a conventional oven with a convection setting? What did cooks use before these appliances were invented?

I was surprised to see 14 indexed air fryer cookbooks in the EYB library.  (Searched Indexed books, filtered for Cookbook type/Cooking method/Appliance, with 'air fryer' in the search text box.)  Three of the most popular are by Gina Homolka, the Skinnytaste writer, and among the top four is one by America's Test Kitchen.  It might be worth your while to review the recipes of the top five or ten to see if any are the more adventurous kind you're looking for.  (Choosing the compressed display after 'Search this book for recipes' puts them all one one page for easy review.)

Does an air fryer do a better job of simulating deep frying than a regular oven?  I love and have wanted to make samosas for a long time, but just don't want to mess with deep frying. I checked out three of the indexed air fryer books' recipes, but none of the three had a samosa recipe.  If anyone's made baked samosas they're happy with, let me know.

Air Fryers do not work for battered foods such as battered fish or chicken.  Dipped in flour, egg wash and panko or breadcrmbs works relatively ok. I have a Ninja  Foodi with a grill and the grill function works great with speed for searing meat and fish with beautiful sear marks.

Ellabee, try entering "air fryer" and samosas into the search box for EYB Library/Recipes. You should get three samosas recipes from three different air fryer-focused cookbooks.

Ellabee…I only make baked samosas. Two I’ve done and reviewed are Moosewood’s potato samosas (using a different pastry), and Made in India’s beetroot samosas.

Thanks, lkgrover & eliza! Will read them over and get myself to choose a recipe for baking. I'm now using an electric convection oven for most things, because the gas oven's electronics are on the fritz. So it's probably the ideal moment.
