We are spending few days in Amsterdam in near future and interested in trying Indonesian food as we are not familiar with the cuisine.  One of the restaurants  we want to eat serves what is called  Tiga Sate Macem.  Googling shows what appears to be some sort of meat sate with skewers.  Is this right?  The menu set already includes choice of 3 different sates. Other sides are rice, noodle type dishes.

Yep it's a sate skewer Rinshin... not sure which restaurant you're interested in checking out but I came across this tour guide to Indonesian food in Amsterdam.. click here .. ANd if you're wandering around the beautiful city of Amsterdam I can strongly recommend a walking tour app called GPS My city!! They have great suggestions!

I highly recommend a trip to Kantjil & Tijger in the Spui. I have never had a bad meal there but my favorite is the spicy eggplant.

Very helpful debkellie and Barb N.  Food looks amazing and really looking forward to eating there.  I think I may have to do a crash course on different Indonesian food names.  The rice table concept looks great, somewhat similar to eating at izakayas in Japan ordering small plates for sharing.

Thank you.  I bookmarked and also downloaded the app.

Sometime in my past, late 70's(?), rijsttafel was a popular dinner party and cooking magazine featured article. They have always fascinated me although I've never actually made 40 separate dishes for one.

I second the recommendation for Kantjil & Tijger in the Spui. Used to live in Amsterdam and had many a meal there!

Thank you.  We are staying at Banks Mansion  and according to google it is 10 min walking to the Kantjil & Tijger.  Looks quite lively.
