sir_ken_g - I have asked our developer whether having an on/off toggle switch for photos is feasible.

Cati - I just tried adding a new Bookmark on my iPad 2 and it worked fine. Maybe take a look at our tutorial re adding Bookmarks - click Need Help? at bottom right. You need to click New when you go into the Bookmarks window before you can start adding a new one.

Jane, obviously I did click on new, typed in the words,But when I press save. It just comes up with the save button in a deep blue and does nothing. It jams at that point. Then I cancel. Have spent all morning testing that I can add bookmarks I already have but cannot add new ones. Have tried a range of new titles in case it didn't like the first one. No luck. Have just tried again.

Cati - can you please send us a screenshot of the Bookmark you are trying to add at the point where the screen freezes? Please email to [email protected]

Happy Sunday! I am using desktop version only with Firefox. Toggling pictures on/off might be a good idea because search seems a little slower and there is more scrolling. My problem is that after I enter a search after doing a search with no matches, there is nothing telling me search is in progress, so I can't tell if the new search is finished (also with no matches) or not, or if program is frozen. Something on the screen should indicate that a search is in progress like an icon or a line at bottom of screen. It doesn't seem to matter whether I click the magnifying glass or press Enter. Does this make sense?

From my mobile : much better, thanks, I can now access all the features from there and it is very useful!

From the website (through Microsoft Edge) : I don't really care for the differences, looks different but the same, so I guess "OK". However I had hoped that you had also fixed at the same time the inability to use the bookmarklet with Microsoft Edge, but no :(

#107 Posted : Sunday, May 1, 2016 10:42:55 AM(UTC)

Foodfann - the site will speed up a lot when we upgrade our server, which is being sorted now. I think we should wait until after that to see whether there is then any need to have a "in progress" symbol.

Agaillard - the problem with not being able to install the bookmarklet when using Edge is not something we can fix. It is an issue on Edge for any bookmarklet, not just ours. I suggest that you post on a Microsoft support forum asking when they will fix this.

The need help button is very annoying when two screen indexing, on the same laptop - anyway to get rid of it as a personal option or similar?..

#110 Posted : Monday, May 2, 2016 10:49:13 AM(UTC)

Jane: Thank you for your prompt answer to my problem yesterday. This whole site is a very important resource for me and I much appreciate the attention to everyone's concerns. Nothing like when you try to report an issue to Apple, Microsoft, etc. etc. etc.

Agree! Would very much like to see this become optional. It's quite a bit of real estate on a notebook laptop screen, and always seems to be covering up the page number entry field just when I'm read to type that in.

debkellie and ellabee - Fiona is currently investigating with the tutorial company whether we can remove the Need Help? button on various parts of the site - principally the indexing and admin screens. I'll let you know as soon as we hear back.

Fiona, Thank you for getting the new bookmark bug fixed last night.

Here I am on my Samsung Galaxy S4 with Android 4.4.4., using the stock browser which is much, much easier on the eyes than Chrome. Now my problem is: I can't get to the full site. Why, oh, why did you take that option away?
#114 Posted : Tuesday, May 17, 2016 9:42:32 PM(UTC)

bittrette - I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by "the full site". There is only one EYB site and that is what you access when you go to www.eatyourbooks.com on any device - computer, tablet or smartphone. What is it that you are missing and what is the option you think you have lost? Also what is the "stock browser" on a Samsung Galaxy? Browsers have names - Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc.

#115 Posted : Tuesday, May 17, 2016 10:20:18 PM(UTC)
Until very recently there were two EYB sites accessible from a mobile phone. I preferred the full site because the mobile site was minimal.

The name of the stock browser that came preinstalled on my two most recent phones (both Android devices) is Internet. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy S4 has Chrome preinstalled.

The full site is what you are now accessing on your phone. It looks different because it now is responsive so the page reformats to fit the screen it is being viewed on. But all the content and features are the same as you had before (plus a couple of new extra features). If there is anything you can't find that you used before, please email us at [email protected] and we will talk you through it. If you haven't already done so, maybe also take a look at the New Features walkthrough, which you access from the green Need Help? button at bottom right. You will need to view this on a tablet or laptop as the tutorials are not yet available on phones.

Didn't that that much of the changes when this first appeared. But now used to them and like the photos. Use the bookmarks more than before. Like the drop-down box under My Bookshelf. I was able to add recipes from a blog that I often use and it was simple. Wasn't able to do that before.

JoBills - have you tried adding the icon to your home screen? This is explained here. I'm also adding a Help section explaining how to do it. Then when you click the icon you are automatically signed in. I saved the Home Page but you can save whichever page you use most (just make sure you are signed in when you do it). Then EYB is one click away and you don't need to sign in.

Hi Jane - yes I have tried this by saving the home page from when I am logged in and not logged in. Neither work for me. I have also reloaded the icon several times and it still does not work. I am still required to log in every time a new page loads. I'm open to any suggestions on a different approach. At the moment I find the site unusable and i would like to fix that as I have paid for a multi year membership.
#118 Posted : Friday, May 27, 2016 7:57:13 PM(UTC)

JoBills - could you contact us at [email protected] with details of your iPhone model, what iOS you have installed and what browser (type and version) you use and we will try to reproduce your issue. We haven't had any other members report this so it is likely there is some setting on your phone that is causing the glitch.

#119 Posted : Saturday, May 28, 2016 12:09:20 PM(UTC)

JoBills - another EYB member just emailed us about the same issue on her iPhone and this was my response to her:

If you are using Safari, check that you have Cookies enabled in your Settings. Click the Settings icon, then click Safari, then click Cookies and check what you have selected. I have Allow From Websites I Visit checked and I am always signed in when I go to EYB (which I connect to from an icon on my Home Screen - explained here in Help).

If you use a different browser, please email us with details and we will try to help you with those settings.

I have started noticing that when I try to read the comments on one of Darcie's articles on my IPad that the last word or two on the right-hand side are cut off. I was just trying to read Jane's comment on ice cream sandwiches and could not find a way to adjust the screen so that I could read the full comment.
