Does anyone else find that the prices are different for different people/locations? For example, at Amazon.com I get a kindle price of $29 for the New York Times cookboook above, and on Canadian Amazon it's $36! Does anyone know why that happens? It's been the case several times lately. I thought I was just too late, but even when I check promptly, the same thing happens. I'm in Canada. Thanks for all the recommendations.

It could be that you are in Canada and the deal is restricted to the US market.  Amazon knows where you are from your IP address.  I just double checked Amazon.com and it is still $1.99 for the Kindle edition.  The hardcover edition is $28.43.


Having said that, it is possible that Amazon is giving different prices to different people based on lord knows what, buying history, other marketing info, whether they are Prime members.  Unfortunately it is quite legal here.

Thank you Pinch of Salt.  I find that what you can purchase as well as prices are restricted by country of residence.  It really irks me that I cannot buy kindle books from Amazon Japan but can buy books and magazines from them no problem.  But the cost of shipping is higher than I like.  I have no idea why.  It would be so economical to purchase kindle books published in Japan.

Thank you PinchOfSalt, for your observations. That helps to clarify why I'm seeing different prices. We still get some good deals here, so I can't complain too much! When we have a good deal on Canadian Amazon it can be a very good value, and it's also good to know it's probably not something I'm doing wrong at my end.

For once all those books are on sale in UK too, thanks! I might have already bought the Uri Scheft one this morning... I also spotted "Crossroads" by Tal Ronnen on sale - £3.59 in UK. This appears to be a publisher promotion because they're all from artisan publishing. May be others?

Have not bothered to buy any kindle ebooks for years, not since Amazon stopped us buying from US and makes us buy from their Australia site at exorbitant prices compared to US. However today I checked out Breaking Breads and it was $3.29 here.
