Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Spinach pesto fusilli

    • Christine on September 05, 2014

Made the pesto only using regular spinach (stems and all) from our CSA. Haven't served it with pasta yet since I was freezing it for future use (in ice cube trays), but tasted it and it is very good and flavorful. I only used half the amount of oil because the sauce was already quite thinned out before I even added a drop. I think the moisture content of my spinach may have been higher than for baby spinach, so use your judgement depending on what kind of spinach you use and what consistency you like your pesto.

  • Blueberry buttermilk pancakes

    • okmosa on February 18, 2019

Different-than-usual wet+dry ingredients combining method, sort of like making pasta (one bowl!). I added the cinnamon which was noticed but not the lemon as I didn’t add the blueberries. This recipe didn’t succeed 110% for me because the batter seemed a little too thick and I think it needs a little more salt but I’ll try it again.

  • Classic coleslaw

    • swegener on January 30, 2015

Very good--I used homemade mayo and added a carrot. It got rave reviews. It did make a ton of slaw!

  • Escarole and date salad with Parmesan

    • sosayi on November 06, 2022

Had escarole in my CSA and tried this out on a whim. Absolutely loved it! Added thinly sliced shallots to the vinaigrette, but otherwise followed the recipe fairly closely. Would definitely make it again.

  • Greek yogurt cake

    • gamulholland on June 24, 2017

Despite the name, this is now "honey cake" in our house because our 4-year-old wanted cake with honey. I added about an extra teaspoon of honey so that there was no doubt it was in there. Light and delicious, and just as good the second day.

  • Chicken fettuccine Alfredo

    • Jennifer410 on September 12, 2021

Super quick, yet tasty meal. I used fresh pasta and next time I'll add a touch more cream to compensate for the increased absorption.

If you want to make the cream filling and cake a day in advance, that's fine, but make sure the individual ingredients have come to at least room temperature before assembling.
