Please someone index, this book has some of the nicest salad recipes ever. The gnocchi and asparagus is divine as is the Asian Beef Salad. Its all great and categorises salads by season.

Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Baby spring vegetables, stellette and Parmesan

    • eeeve on June 30, 2018

Love this pasta salad, I can’t stop eating it all up in one go! It’s great as written with almost raw spring baby veg, though later in the year I just chop the carrots and courgette finely and fry in the pan for a little longer. I usually substitute garden peas for sugar snaps and use a sweet chilli dressing (the home made glaze from the book or a shop bought one) in place of the balsamic drizzle.

  • Minnesota salad

    • No1Alicat on March 25, 2026

Slightly biased by the fact that this kind of salad is absolutely my favourite thing to eat! Next time, it needs some really good bread with it to mop up the oil & vinegar!

  • Whopping potato salad

  • Classic Cobb salad

    • eeeve on May 03, 2017

Made a vegetarian version of this, together with a buttermilk ranch dressing from another recipe, turned out great and is a good one to prep ahead before guests arrive. Only the crispy fried onions didn't quite turn out as stated, we found we had to use a huge amount of oil, plus ended up with a lot of burnt flour in the pan.

  • Old-fashioned slaw

    • eeeve on June 06, 2016

Love this slaw - haven't used the celeriac, only cabbage and carrot. The dressing with mostly vinegar/oil and only 1 tbsp of mayo is delicious - not as heavy as those dreary shop-bought versions.

  • Sweet chilli and tomato glaze

    • eeeve on October 20, 2022

Have made this for a number of years now with chilli glut from the greenhouse, and love it! I've now learned to double the quantity of chillies, as I really like their sweet stickiness. Use it as a dressing for all kinds of things.

  • Swiss vinaigrette
