    This tart has flavor layered upon flavor and the fresh summer herb pesto adds the perfect final flourish. I think it would make an outstanding appetizer as tiny individual tarts as well.

• Curried butternut squash and pear bisque

    Really delicious. The counterbalance of the sweetness of the pears and apple cider with the kick of the curry is quite perfect. Easy to prepare, and perfect for fall.

• Dungeness crab and corn risotto

    Making the corn broth is a bit of effort but totally worth it in this corn luscious dish. Note that the recipe calls for two ears of corn, shucked. I took this to mean corn cut off the cob. I used half the corn from making the corn broth and added the cut kernels as directed. I had fresh Dungeness crab and wanted to be able to taste it with the corn. I think the Pesto covered up the crab flavor. Next time I would use much less Pesto or skip it altogether. In any event this was a lovely risotto that I would make again.

• Lemon verbena ice cream

    This is luscious, a bit exotic and very easy to make. I served it with fresh boysenberry sorbet and they complimented each other wonderfully. I think I will have to make another batch before the frost comes and takes my lemon verbena leaves until next year. This ice cream would be perfect served with just about any berry in any form - sorbet, sauce, fresh, etc.
