Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Classic treacle tart

    • ALawson25 on November 06, 2022

This made so much filling for a 23cm pastry case! I halved it and that was enough. I used my own pastry recipe. Think this was a decent if not extra special recipe.

  • Slow-roast beef with a pepper & rosemary crust and Guinness onions

    • jammydodger on September 07, 2014

The beef came out perfectly (if not quite as pink as in the recipe), however the vegetables were underdone. Next time round I'd add the vegetables to the tin right from the beginning. And there will be a next time - very simple recipe and perfect for a Sunday lunch.

  • Chocolate banana upside-down cake

    • Grumbletum on July 21, 2018

This is divine. Made it as a tray bake, worked perfectly.

  • Sausage, apples and potato one-pan roast

    • jammydodger on July 24, 2014

Very good, easy midweek meal. It's worth buying decent sausages since this recipe is so simple. We had it with braised beetroot tops and spinach (a Jamie Oliver recipe), which went well. I think the amount of potatoes could be reduced. Also gave it 10 minutes longer in the oven. Will make again.
