Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Roast chicken

    • dawnelizabethtaylor on January 14, 2026

Perfect, delicious and so easy! I halved the lemon (my preference) and added fresh herbs and garlic cloves. The chicken was so moist and quick and easy to take off the bone. Tomorrow I will continue and make chicken stock with the bones and juices and then chicken soup!

Delicious recipe - but no lemon for me!

      Garden herbs and garlic cloves

    • dawnelizabethtaylor on April 15, 2026

Used leftover garlic butter and spinach mix on top and nothing else. 5 hrs high. I don’t bother turning as it’s for the dogs and for stock.

    • dawnelizabethtaylor on April 30, 2026

      As always, for the dogs!

  • Chicken stock

    • dawnelizabethtaylor on March 05, 2026

After slow cooking chicken I make this the following day. And then I make soup!

  • Black bean and squash stew with kale and barley

    • rooeats on December 10, 2023

My black beans may have been stale but this was not edible after 10 hours (in instant pot on “normal” - left the stew on the counter overnight, cooked in slow cooker for another 4 hours then had to put in pressure cooker to get them edible!

Look forward to recipes such as Oxtail stew with Guinness, star anise and dark chocolate, Black bean, kale and pumpkin stew and Rosewater rice pudding with pistachio nuts. Her ideas include plenty of hearty mains and scrumptious puddings, as well as quick-and-easy side dishes and creative ways for using up any leftovers.
