Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Pork ribs with kimchi and Dr Pepper

    • meggan on August 02, 2021

I made this with boneless ribs and after I pressure cooked them they were too flimsy to grill so I just reduced the sauce and braised them in the oven. They were very simple and good due to the huge amount of kimchee.

  • Banana pudding parfaits

    • montecristo99 on September 10, 2018

I loved the idea of this, but it was a fiasco from start to finish. Of the four different components, only the cheesecake mousse came together easily. Neither the banana jam nor the butterscotch pudding set as well as they should have. I tinkered with them to make them work, but didn't love the results (the recipe as written seemed to include too much lemon juice in the jam, and too much salt everywhere else). Proportions also seemed off--I ended up with massive quantities of jam and pudding, but barely enough mousse to create the suggested 8 servings. I halved the shortbread recipe and still had extra cookies left over (not a great hardship, although I found them bland, and the dough was difficult to work with). I may use this as inspiration to try my own take on these parfaits, but would not use any part of this particular recipe again.

  • The Washington Post by T. Susan Chang

...knockout flavors realized through instructions that are, well, not foolproof. In some cases you can use your judgment...with the baking recipes, the solution might not be as obvious.
