Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Vietnamese crab and pomelo salad

    • sarahj22 on November 25, 2020

I enjoyed this but my husband wasn't a fan. It hit a lot of the lovely notes that are so good in Vietnamese food - sweet, sour, salty, a slight chilli kick - with a really nice freshness. That said, I wasn't crazy about the (hard to find) pomelo and the crab flavour didn't shine through as much as I'd hoped, so it's probably not a repeat for me.

  • Pineapple upside-down cake

    • Foodycat on April 28, 2020

I made a few substitutions - coconut flakes for desiccated, fresh pineapple and 2tbs bourbon instead of the canned pineapple and juice. It worked very well! It's a lovely cake with a good fresh flavour from the pineapple.

  • Tarragon and mustard chicken with potato stuffing and baby turnips
