Cosmonaut, p 93. Supereasy and delicious. Looks beautiful in a coupe.

      Delicious, off-dry, fragrant, gin forward.

  • Gin & It

    • Totallywired on October 10, 2018

Simple and delicious. Lemon twist is crucial. Made with Carpano Antica.

Delicious, warmer, rounder version of a Boulevardier

  • Red Hook cocktail

    • Totallywired on October 22, 2018

Best with a spicy, high test rye like Rittenhouse, otherwise the maraschino dominates too much. Lot 40 works as well. Of all the Brooklyn variations, I think I prefer the Bensonhurst overall.

  • Cosmonaut

I substituted homemade cranberry sauce (from a recipe in Shaya) that includes rosemary and vanilla for the raspberry jam and thought the tartness worked well in this cocktail.

Really well balanced. Could use a double strain.

  • Rye hummingbird down

    • Totallywired on February 11, 2019

Another citrus and syrup in equal parts drink from this book that reads too sweet. Chartreuse here offers enough interest to distract but finish is all dissolved honey. Pleasant enough, but makes you want a stronger or bitter drink.

  • Saladito

Used chili flakes instead of cayenne pepper, it looked beautiful and tasted excellent.

  • French 75

    • Baxter850 on July 24, 2020

Same specs as Meehan, except Sasha calls for gin or cognac. My favorite French 75 spec.

    • wcassity on September 22, 2021

Delicious. Used gin, homemade grenadine in place of simple syrup, and cava.

  • The stark

    • Totallywired on February 03, 2019

Stunning cocktail. Great sweet/sour balance, floral and intriguing chartreuse flavour. Ango float is key and genius.

Someone who cares about the ice in their drink is a serious cocktail maker. And if you’re that person, Regarding Cocktails...is right for you.

Yes, it is a book of craft cocktails, but if you plan, you will not need to spend hours in the kitchen conjuring up tinctures and aging bitters...

Here are 85 cocktail recipes from his repertoire—the beloved classics and modern variations—with stories from the bartenders he personally trained. Ingredients, measurements, and preparations are beautifully illustrated so that readers can make professional cocktails at home. Sasha's advice for keeping the home bar, as well as his musings, are collected here to inspire a new generation of bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts.
