  • Cider-braised Brussels sprouts with bacon

Brussels, bacon, and apple = great flavor combo. Next time I'd use two slices of bacon instead of four (using two T bacon fat for the brussels), and would quarter the brussels sprouts.

  • Sausage, Brussels sprout & potato soup

Surprisingly delicious. The smoked paprika turns this mostly vegetable soup from run of the mill to very flavorful. I had half a stock of Brussels sprouts left from Christmas and found this interesting recipe in my recipe library. Once everything was prepped, the cooking time was pretty fast. Made it several hours before serving to give the ingredient flavors a chance to come together. Husband remarked, “This is a keeper- let’s have it again.”
