Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Roasted cauliflower with tahini and lemon

    • lorloff on January 17, 2023

Great dish. It comes together easily and works perfectly. Careful with your oven temperature so you do not cook to long. I started checking mine at 15 minutes and it was done in under 20. I have a convention oven so that may be why. Also taste your hot sauce before you add it. I have a fully organic one that was quite hot so will reduce the amount next time. I made a tahini, lemon juice, salt and pressed garlic tahini sauce that was delicious with the dish. This will defiantly have a place in our Cauliflower favorites.

This was just ok, the tomato paste was a bit odd. Won’t repeat

    • sarahawker on January 11, 2023

Very fast and flavorful. Did not have a large cauliflower so added some chunked potato and everyone loved it.

    • TonyInSeattle on September 11, 2019

This was delicious — beautiful, spicy, fantastic. My only complaint is that it was a hair too salty. I’ve made this several times now with 1/4 less salt and the seasoning is perfect!

    • Skamper on May 23, 2023

This was disappointing. the cauliflower was way overcooked and mushy. The sauce tasted amazing before cooking but was quite muted after. I used .5 T of harissa instead of hot sauce.

Really good with the Tomato-Herb Salad with Sumac, also from Milk Street. They looked prettier served side-by-side, but just piling one on the other with some warm chickpeas was grand.

  • Persian tomato and cucumber salad (Shirazi salad)

    • apattin on November 13, 2019

Very nice. Used fresh mint and a bit of olive oil at the end. The lime zest makes this sing.

  • Perfectly poached shrimp

    • hillsboroks on August 16, 2023

This was the easiest, fastest way to poach shrimp without overcooking it I have ever found. The finished cooled shrimp was absolutely delicious. My shrimp was done perfectly at 3 minutes in the hot poaching sauce.

This is the absolute best way to poach shrimp perfectly!

  • Lemon-lime lacquered grilled chicken (Inihaw na manok)

    • hillsboroks on May 02, 2021

Simple ingredients that add up to fabulous flavor. We loved this. It was easy to make, did not have to marinate that long and the glaze added a zing that made plain old chicken thighs really special.

    • Skamper on May 28, 2023

We really liked this and I'd make it again. I made a half batch of marinade for 2 leg quarters, which was more than needed. I appreciated that it doesn't need a long marinade, but it could probably stand one with no problem. I used dark brown sugar and diet 7Up, since that's what I had on hand.

  • Indian-spiced pork burgers

    • TonyInSeattle on July 01, 2019

Good flavor but not very moist or juicy.
