Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Turmeric cornbread

    • ChefAnnaScott on December 29, 2023

Fantastic flavor and so moist! My go-to cornbread nowadays.

  • The OG green smoothie

    • Dannausc on February 09, 2025

Quick and easy. Pretty good. Worth a repeat.

  • Peanut butter & jelly smoothie

    • Dannausc on February 16, 2025

      Quick and easy. Pretty decent.

  • Kale & romaine za'atar Caesar salad

    • Dannausc on February 16, 2025

Quick and easy. Good but not great.

  • Spice up your pomegranate salad

    • Dannausc on September 11, 2021

It was okay but not as good as I had hoped.

  • Chilled chaat masala chickpea salad

    • hbakke on April 19, 2022

Nice healthy salad. I liked the chaat masala spices combined with the lime juice. The heat from the ground cayenne pepper was noticeable and built up as I ate the salad, but not in an unbearable way. I would make this again.

    • skvalentine on May 19, 2024

This was OK. I thought it had to much red onion. I didn't use the cayenne because I wanted my kdis to eat it, but I'd like to try it again and make it spicy. I liked the contrast of the chickpeas with the cucumbers. UPDATE: Was much better the next day! Will make ahead next time.

  • Masala cauliflower & sweet potatoes with cilantro-mint chutney

    • skvalentine on November 24, 2025

Easy and tasty and full of fiber! I had already cooked sweet potatoes, so threw those in at the end of cooking time. Great addition to workweek packed lunches.

  • Spicy eggplant masala (Baingan bharta)

    • skvalentine on June 18, 2024

Delicious! Easy way to use up less-than-fresh eggplant. I used Asian eggplants and served over basmati rice. Was even better the next day.

  • Creamy black lentils (Dal makhani)

    • hbakke on March 21, 2023

This wasn't the prettiest dish, but we both enjoyed the flavors. There are no instructions anywhere in the recipe to season with salt, so we had to add quite a bit at the end of cooking to keep it from being bland. I would make this again and season as I go.

  • Kidney bean stew (Rajma)

    • Dannausc on February 16, 2025

Pretty quick and easy. I served it over farro. Quite good. Definitely worth a repeat.

  • Lentil Bolognese

    • Ajammies on June 05, 2024

I liked this, maybe a little more spice would have made it even better.

  • Herby farro bowl

    • Dannausc on February 16, 2025

Fairly quick and easy. I liked it quite a bit. Worth a repeat.

  • The unforgettable spicy tomato pasta

    • Dannausc on February 16, 2025

Good and tasty. Worth a repeat.

  • Brookie pie

    • Dannausc on February 16, 2025

It was fine but not nearly as good as I had hoped, though that did keep me from overindulging. If I had a gluten allergy, this would be a good alternative. Since I don't, I'd rather stick to the real thing as the consistency was not great on this.

  • Strawberry maple granola crisp

    • mpo on December 25, 2022

This is good - actually not too sweet but I didn't use the full amount of maple syrup. Could almost use a little more fruit, Overall though, we enjoyed this and I would make again.

  • Masala popcorn

    • Dannausc on February 09, 2025

I air popped the popcorn and sprinkled the ingredients on top and mixed it up. Super quick and easy. Quite good. Worth a repeat.

Publishers Text

100+ meals and treats with accidentally plant-based energy, all made with natural, unprocessed ingredients, all easy and indulgent, from rising star Samah Dada.

Samah Dada doesn’t buy into the all-or-nothing mentality of healthy eating. By using real, unprocessed ingredients in surprising ways, she shows you how to have your cake and eat it too—because it’s actually made out of chickpeas.

Her food is often vegan, allergen-free, gluten-free, grain-free, and Whole30-compliant because she’s only using the most nutritious ingredients, not because she’s cutting out food groups to follow the latest fad. Her creative use of plants gives us drool-worthy dishes like her viral hits Brookie Pie and Chocolate Chip Tahini Cake with Chocolate Frosting, as well as One Banana Only Muffin Tops, Pancake Bread, Cauliflower Cacio e Pepe, and Masala Mac and Cheese.

And she draws on her Indian roots for dishes like Spicy Eggplant Masala and the Best Dal Ever that come together in record time. Chocolate Chip Chickpea Blondies, Coconut Sugar Halva Strawberry Crumble Bars, and Marbled Chocolate Tahini Loaf Cake rely on unprocessed sugars, legumes, and grain-free flours, but they still satisfy every sweet tooth as you learn how to use these healthy ingredients for maximum flavor and joy.
