Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Spinach and ricotta rolls with autumn fruit ketchup

    • Ro_ on April 22, 2025

I made these without the ketchup, and froze to reheat later. They were nice but really do need something to dip - try again with the ketchup next time.

  • Roasted rainbow carrot, pomegranate & herb salad

    • Ro_ on September 16, 2024

This looked pretty, but it was overall too sweet for my taste.

  • Cheesy croissant bread-and-butter pudding

    • Ro_ on October 06, 2024

I'd make this again if I had croissants to use up, but I think I'd have preferred it with some tang - maybe some marinara/tomato running through it, to break up all the creamy cheesiness. A sharper cheese would also have been my preference. This was eggier than I expected and would have worked well as a breakfast dish.

  • Chicken shawarma kebabs

    • Ro_ on August 27, 2024

I couldn't get the specified schwarma paste so I made my own from a quick and easy recipe, it turned out well. I liked grilling the chicken and vegetables, my grill is a bit rubbish so it took longer than stated but gave a nice end result and a good texture. The garlicky yoghurt was nice. I served with flatbreads and some pickly coleslaw.

  • Spicy sausage omelette with chilli pesto

    • Ro_ on September 27, 2024

For an omelette this was just too much faff. It was nice but not amazing (I used chorizo, don't know how much of a difference this made). Also I think I should have used a bigger pan.

  • Chicken, feta, tahini and aubergine traybake

    • Ro_ on October 25, 2024

I made this with regular peas instead of sugar snap peas as I couldn't get the latter. Overall this was easy and very tasty, we both enjoyed it. The only thing I'd say is that it didn't need as much tahini as stated as it was kind of overpowering (and I say this as a tahini lover), and it would have been nice to keep some of the feta and some fresh herbs to sprinkle over at the end.
