Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Mum's chicken and rice

    • FlowerGold on February 12, 2026

Solid good weeknight comfort food. Used boneless skinless breast and thighs - about 2 pounds total. Definitely use a large onion for the moisture. Not sure how much spice should be used - had about half left. Boneless skinless takes a little less time to cook. Full approval from my husband!

  • Chicken and lime soup, aka honeymoon soup

    • hbakke on April 18, 2023

Lovely limey soup. For simplicity I skipped the fried tortilla strips and used crumbled tortilla chips. I also doubled the tomatoes and green bell peppers to use up languishing produce and appreciated the extra vegetables in the soup. I would make this again.

  • Chicken and yellow zucchini avgolemono-style soup

    • FlowerGold on August 02, 2024

Liked this! Was satisfying without being heavy. Used green zucchini. Straight forward and easy to prepare. Would definitely redo.

    • FlowerGold on August 02, 2024

      Liked it! Would redo.

  • German cucumber and fresh pea salad with pea shoots

    • FlowerGold on May 20, 2026

Really liked it. Probably even better with pea shoots or micro greens. Love the dill and the sour cream was not heavy. Used Persian cucumbers. Does take time to soak the cucumbers. Would redo and would serve to guests.

  • Gerrard Street mulligatawny soup with spiced apple croutons

    • FlowerGold on January 10, 2025

Very good. A warming winter soup. Lots of flavor. Might dial back on the cumin just a bit. The apple croutons are a must.

  • Italian sausage sourdough "stuffins"

    • hbakke on November 27, 2023

I made this in a 9x13" pan instead of the muffin tin. We loved all the herbs in this stuffing. I would make this again.

  • Miso-ginger-honey three-bean salad

    • FlowerGold on May 18, 2026

Asian take on three bean salad. Light, fresh and so pretty. The miso and honey pair well together. Used a little more of the green beans and edamame. Made half a recipe of dressing and used the that amount. Served to guests and would definitely redo.

  • Miso-ginger dressing

    • FlowerGold on May 18, 2026

Yummy. Very nice Asian dressing with the miso honey and seeds. Definitely a redo.
