Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Earl Grey, orange & white chocolate traybake

    • RCL on March 13, 2025

Huge hit with everyone, even earl grey haters. Lovely cake, will definitely make again.

  • Tarragon blondies

    • Brittania on February 15, 2026

Really good to take and share.

  • Squash & nigella seed soda bread

    • bwilcox on July 28, 2023

Made this and far too dry. Did not turn out. May make again because I’ve not had any issues with anything else in this book and it might have been my own issues with the squash not being mushy enough or roasting in an oven that was too hot

  • Roasted carrot & harissa galette

    • Astrid5555 on May 05, 2022

Had some purple heirloom carrots on hand so this galette was the perfect occasion for using them up. Looks stunning and tastes delicous, got rave reviews.

    • rachelblair on June 01, 2023

Delicious galette but next time I'm going to add more carrots since I felt it was a bit thin and wasn't substantial enough to eat as a meal even with a salad along side.

  • Pumpkin spice coffee scones

    • Lepa on April 24, 2022

These were good but not my favorite scones. While my husband and I loved the coffee glaze, the kids didn't like it (and they aren't picky, especially about sweet foods). We also liked it better with a smear of creme fraiche (we didn't have clotted cream) to offset the sweetness.

  • Rhubarb, ginger & white chocolate cake

    • Lepa on May 05, 2022

This is good. If I made it again I would add more rhubarb as the bites without rhubarb feel a bit dry.

    • Astrid5555 on June 28, 2022

Made this back in May with my first rhubarb from the garden. The white chocolate was a nice addition.

    • jazmin_l3pudo on April 25, 2026

Add more rhubarb to the top, not really getting any ginger flavor, overall delish cake. Served with whipped cream

  • Malted brown butter pound cake

    • Foodycat on March 26, 2022

Gorgeous flavour! I really like her very careful instructions - when she says to use a medium saucepan for the butter, PAY ATTENTION - it froths up a lot more than I expected, and when she says to beat for 6-8 minutes so it's really light and fluffy it makes a big difference. I used Ovaltine instead of Horlicks because I am trying to avoid palm oil, so mine was a bit darker. For some reason it collapsed in the middle as it cooled even though it was properly cooked but it didn't affect the eating quality.

    • mimisingh on June 13, 2025

The texture of this turned out nice. The malted flavor isn't that obvious but it is just a really satisfying fluffy pound cake with a satisfying crumb. Cooked at a slightly lower temperature in a convection oven for a bit longer than directed. It really is better the next day for some reason

  • Banana, tahini & rum cake

    • bwilcox on July 28, 2023

Decent. Mainly just tasted like a good banana bread, the rum and tahini got a bit lost

  • Cornflake caramel peanut bars

    • Brittania on February 17, 2026

Tasty but very sweet. A lot of butter and sugar!

  • Everyday cake

    • Sinu on March 02, 2026

A simple, plain loaf cake. Baked for 40 minutes (recipe says 50). Made it in the evening and ate in the morning - it was soft and moist.

  • Pink peppercorn & ginger shortbread

    • stepharama1 on January 22, 2026

These cookies have an unusual combination of flavors and are absolutely scrumptious!!

  • Za’atar granola

    • bwilcox on July 28, 2023

Good idea but I added more seasoning - gochugaru for some spice, zaatar and brown sugar. The cooking time is far too long and will burn granola to a crisp

  • Cardamom, pear & pistachio cake

    • jazmin_l3pudo on February 01, 2026

Easy to make - one bowl. Bake time was about 90min (almost double the listed time).

  • Smoked paprika & halloumi flatbreads

    • sdeathe on January 17, 2023

Delicious and easy to make. They are more like naan than flatbreads, I think, as they are made with yeast, and are soft and fairly thick. I made them on a griddle as opposed to a frying pan. Yummy. A repeat.

    • bwilcox on July 28, 2023

      Delicious and on repeat

  • Flourless chocolate, olive oil & almond cake

    • ebawden on May 12, 2025

Took maybe ten mins longer for the skewer to come out clean. I left the ganache off this as was serving for a crowd who prefers very plain. This is an absolute showstopper even without the icing. Unbelievable! I’m so happy I found this cake. Can be made many days in advance and only improves. A spot of espresso in the mixture wouldn’t go astray.

  • Buckwheat, sesame & chocolate cookies

    • bwilcox on July 28, 2023

I looooove these! Delicious comforting warmth from the sesame, buckwheat, and chocolate, and a wholesome snack that feels like it gives you energy for a while
