Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Rhubarb cheesecake bars

    • Lsblackburn1 on May 09, 2024

These were nice, but I’m not sure it was really worth it to buy the einkorn flour just for these. I wanted them to be more interesting, but they were just a standard cheesecake.

  • Black and white magic brownies

    • Lsblackburn1 on June 11, 2024

Used so many bowls making these, but they are tasty! I couldn’t find the fine coconut and didn’t want to deal with fresh, so just used 2 cups of unsweetened medium flake. Seemed to work okay.

  • Blueberry buckle

    • KCKB on March 01, 2026

Very tasty - the cake portion is similar to a blueberry muffin, and the streusel topping is reminiscent of a Dutch apple pie. I skipped the orange oil and zest because I didn’t have any on hand, but it was delicious without them. Very good with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

  • Black-eyed pea and sweet potato salad

    • SheilaS on November 09, 2023

I chose the option to roast the sweet potatoes instead of steaming, used a mis of Fresno and cherry bomb peppers, added some chopped, toasted almonds for crunch and served it with the Za'atar Flatbread from the same book. Excellent salad!

  • Sugar crisp muffins

    • Jviney on April 27, 2025

Big hit with the kiddos. The muffins themselves weren’t as sweet as I expected - I think next time I would butter the whole muffin and roll it in the sugar mixture. Very good, easy to make and enjoy.

  • Moroccan harira soup

    • SheilaS on November 14, 2023

Delicious and hearty vegetarian soup. Tastes even better the next day!

  • Za'atar flatbreads

    • SheilaS on November 09, 2023

These came out great. I baked them for 6-7 minutes. A little dark on the bottom but still tasty.

  • Pfeffernüsse

    • BrendaD1962 on December 23, 2024

These cookies are delicious and very quick to prepare. Definitely a keeper.

    • Lepa on December 23, 2025

Pfeffernusse are my husband's favorite cookie and every year I try a new recipe and am not quite satisfied with the results. I think we found the recipe we will be using in future years. Zingerman's recipes are really solid and I am not surprised to find the perfect pfeffernusse in one of their books.

  • Bacon cheddar scones

    • Lsblackburn1 on October 10, 2023

These came out great - very delicious! 20 minutes was perfect to get them done.

  • Chicago-style deep-dish pizza

    • BrendaD1962 on December 27, 2024

Just ok. Have had far better. Won’t make again.

  • West African peanut stew

    • KCKB on January 13, 2024

This was very tasty! I opted to leave it chunky instead of pureeing because we wanted something more like a stew - perfect for a chilly night.
