Notes about this book

  • kbrooks on November 17, 2024

Many of the recipes in this book are described by the author, Benny Blanco, as having been concocted with friends while high or drunk which makes one wonder how they could possibly be good. Well, I've now made 5 of the dishes and we have loved every one! He really knocks it out of the park with flavor. Going to keep on cooking these recipes.

Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Caprese with roasted pepper and burrata

    • kbrooks on March 30, 2025

Amazing dressing! Omitted the truffle oil as I didn't have any, but we didn't miss it. Used campari tomatoes instead of cherry tomatoes and quartered them.

  • Chicken cutlets with honey, peppers, and Parm

    • kbrooks on November 17, 2024

This is a keeper! The flavor combo of honey, parmesan and the pickled peppers on top of the chicken is yummy. Easy peasy to make.

  • Greek salad

    • kbrooks on March 30, 2025

Nice crunchy salad. Added some diced Persian cucumbers.

  • Gomae

    • kbrooks on August 26, 2024

This is a light, clean tasting side dish or tapas dish. Tastes just like my Japanese former mother-in-law makes.

  • Creamed spinach

    • kbrooks on December 26, 2024

If you're looking for a quick, simple and tasty recipe for creamed spinach, this is it. We generally like a more complex creamed spinach, i.e . more ingredients, but when the rest of the meal is complicated/labor intensive, this fills the bill.

  • Salted caramel Rice Krispie Treats™

    • qchu204 on August 30, 2024

These were really good but my caramel melted on top of the Rice Krispies and just looked like a glaze on top. The caramel didn’t stay thick like the picture so no one eating it knew there was caramel on top. They just thought it was extra sweet.

  • Sour cream and onion mashed potatoes

    • kbrooks on August 26, 2024

Wow! Just wow! I think I gained weight just reading the recipe. This is absolutely yummy! The only changes I made were to omit the cream cheese (it seemed like overkill) and to substitute canned crispy fried onions for the onion soup mix to cut down on the saltiness. If you want to use the cream cheese I'd omit the heavy cream.

  • Dave's company chicken and company noodles

    • kbrooks on October 05, 2025

No idea why Benny says that only Dave likes this dish. We absolutely loved it! Wonderful flavors. Easy to make. Made exactly as written;didn't change anything.

Publishers Text

The debut cookbook from benny blanco—pop music super-producer, artist, actor on FXX’s Dave, and consummate food freak—teaches you everything you need to know about cooking, enjoying life, and throwing the greatest dinner party of all time.

Hi, I’m benny blanco. I’m in a television show with my best friend Dave and I probably produced most of the songs you have heard on the radio from 2008 until now. When I was thirteen, I got a George Foreman Grill and it changed my life forever. I would invite friends over and we would get stoned and gather around the grill and make the most elaborate sandwiches our prepubescent minds could fathom. I became obsessed with food and cooking for friends.

I know what you are going to say, and I get it. Cooking is scary. But I promise you, once you get into it, it will be your new addiction. Slicing an onion is like taking a Xanax to me. I made this cookbook to teach you everything I know about food, cooking, and throwing the greatest dinner party of all time. There are the basics to get your kitchen ready, a little advice from my expert friends, then all of the dinner party menus I love to make, like:

5 Dishes to Get You Laid and One for the Morning After
I Wish I Were an Italian Grandma
Take Me to the Cheesy Rodeo
F*ck Morton’s Steakhouse

Which are filled with insane recipes like:

Lose Your Mind Lobster Rolls “I Might Go Vegetarian” Veggie Sandwich Chicken Cutlets with Honey, Peppers, and Parm “I Hope We Didn’t Make a Baby” Breakfast Burrito.

I’ve been told some of the finest stories over meals. I’ve laughed so hard I thought I was going to actually die. I’ve fallen in love—sometimes with the food, sometimes with the person across the table. I’ve cried in good ways, and I’ve cried in bad ways. I hope you’ve been lucky enough to have all these same memories and then some. But if you haven’t, I can make you a promise. If you follow these three simple steps, it will all become a reality: Open this book. Open your heart. And open wide, baby.
