  • Snap bean supper

    • chawkins on August 19, 2014

Very easy to put together and quite tasty. I did not baked it in the oven for the time called out in the recipe. I mixed everything on the stove top over medium heat, so the mixture was quite hot when I assembled the casserole. I topped it with fresh breadcrumbs and butter and baked it uncovered until the crumbs are crispy. Good way to use my abundant supply of snap beans from the garden.

  • Corned beef and cabbage summer style

    • Hana.Sundet on October 26, 2024

Delicious, quick supper! All of us enjoyed it, so we'll definitely make it again.

  • Ratatouille

    • chawkins on August 21, 2013

It's not a bad version, but I've had better. I may have overcooked it a little though.

  • Onion pie

    • breakthroughc on November 21, 2021

This was tasty and I'm always looks for meatless recipes. Not low fat, but vegetarian. When we closed up the cabin for winter I ended up with two almost full boxes of saltine crackers in my pantry at home and went searching for recipes to use them up. It calls for cooking onions until golden, but I went to caramelized. The cracker crust was on the soggy side. I might try baking it for a bit to set the crust next time.

  • Zucchini bread

    • AnneG on September 06, 2012

Made 9/2012 into muffins; easy and good flavor.

  • Scalloped turnips and onions

    • chawkins on July 14, 2016

Surprisingly good with a very beefy taste. I used beef broth rather than beef consomme.

  • Turnip and carrot slaw

    • chawkins on September 27, 2017

Never had raw turnip before, so surprisingly it was quite good. I was worried about pouring the boiling dressing over the slaw, but they remained crunchy.

  • Mashed turnips

    • chawkins on July 11, 2016

Not something would make normally, but when the garden gives you turnips, you have to find ways to use it up. This is surprisingly good and good for you, very easy to boot.
