  • Pan-roasted salmon with horseradish gremolata

      Made this with local King Salmon. The gremolata was pungent and paired well with the salmon. It was a bit watery from the prepared horseradish however. If I make this again, I will try fresh horseradish. We had lots of leftover gremolata which I stirred into orzo the following night. That was a winner!

      I'd been craving tortilla soup for weeks and this recipe popped up in my feed -- how handy! This is a spicier recipe but I totally loved it. Cut back on chipotle if you like. I added a diced zucchini to veg it up a bit. Yum!

  • Hot-and-sour soup

      This is a really great hot and sour soup recipe, Better than 90% of Chinese restaurants. I am throwing my other recipe away. I used twice the amount of mushrooms and the whole small can of bamboo shoots and there was still a lot of broth to stuff for our liking. I will add some of the small Asian mushrooms next time. I used chile oil instead of the chili sauce and it was still a little mild for us. I will use a full Tablespoon of chili oil next time and a little more corn starch.

      Loved everything about this. A superb one-pot vegetarian dish for winter.

      Had high hopes for this as we love lentils and kshell's review was so positive. Followed the recipe exactly as written. This was a major disappointment. Bland and stodgy. Roasting the mushrooms was interesting and I may do that again, but definitely not making this dish again.
