I have the 1994 edition of this book and it is a classic. I've gifted several copies over the years. I love the format of full recipes with sidebars on each one on how to take elements while you are cooking/prepping to make age-appropriate meals for babies-young children. Cook once/feed everyone and develop kids palates for healthy whole foods as you go. A great book for young families that you'll find yourself using long after the kids have grown.

This is a great kale salad for people who like kale but don’t love kale. Once I got in the habit of making this, I really could never muster the effort to try another way with my good old “sale kale.” I love the easy dry-sauté technique, and the proportions of vinaigrette, fresh fruit, dried fruit, red onion, seeds, and cheese produce a delicious effect. I substitute or omit all those components when I need (especially the cheese). The salad keeps for days.

Publishers Text

Feeding the Whole Family starts with the basics of creating a whole foods diet, from understanding grains and beans to determining what meats are acceptable to eat. Author Cynthia Lair then applies these lessons to cooking for young children and babies aged six months and older. She explains how to adapt each recipe separately for both children's and adults' palates. This updated edition includes the most current nutritional research along with 65 delicious new recipes, including meat dishes.
