Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Smoky potato scramble

    • CRCarroll6 on December 27, 2012

This potato scramble was fantastic. I reheated these today with a twist of smoked salt and served in a tortilla for breakfast with a little chipotle hot sauce splashed on it. Talk about smoky goodness.

  • Chipotle scallion double cornbread

    • happyeater on June 05, 2016

Delicious - and spicy. Watch the chipotle powder if you don't want a kick. I used 1 tsp and it was plenty spicy.

  • Home-style veggie noodle soup

    • britt on June 01, 2013

Excellent sick person soup. Very like the Campbell's soups of my childhood. I think it's flavor is better than Amy's No Chicken Noodle. Prep is more complicated than opening a can but still pretty simple: cut up 3 veggies, throw those in soup pot with noodles and flavorings, and simmer. I would finely chop the celery. It was still crunchy when everything else was tender, and, sure enough, the patient left all the celery at the bottom of his bowl uneaten.

  • Smoky curls

    • happyeater on May 27, 2015

As tasty as everyone says. Super easy to pull together and they taste better the next day cold. Highly recommend.

  • Double chocolate strawberry pie

    • Hannaha100 on April 16, 2017

Made for an Easter lunch with gluten-free hobnobs subbed for oreos to cater for family allergies. Also used grenadine syrup instead of liqueur so no alcohol. Very easy, held shape well when sliced, lovely flavour. Needs an hour or so in fridge to solidify. Recipe is a keeper.

Reviews about this book

  • All Roads Lead to the Kitchen

I love the photos and the fact that everything does sound like good ol' comfort food. As with all vegan cookbooks I've come across, there are some unusual (to me) ingredients that I don't stock...

The recipes and beautiful photos make this a good starting point for people curious about trying more plant-based food... the vegan pantry essentials does a good job explaining unusual ingredients.
