Tofu and French beans with chraimeh sauce from Ottolenghi Simple (page 104) by Yotam Ottolenghi

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Great dish. Love tofu and green beans so I guess this one was a slam dunk already. Cut the beans in half maybe for ease of eating.

Thanks to previous feedback I knew to reduce the sauce. I didn’t have green beans so I substituted with other veg for a mid week dinner. Was delicious and relatively straightforward.

Yum! I almost didn’t make this due to the lackluster comments in other notes but I had the ingredients, so I forged ahead. So glad I did! This sauce is delicious. Because others complained it was thin, I made sure I simmered it down until it had thickened. I also cut the green beans into bite sized pieces, which made it easier to get a bite with all the elements combined. To simplify it further, I steamed the green beans into the microwave for the first round of cooking and I prepared the tofu in my air-fryer. It was delicious. I will definitely make again and make more sauce for white beans, fish, zucchini, and more. (I woke up the next morning thinking about making this sauce again.)

This recipe served with basmati rice was scrumptious. Chraimeh is a piquant sauce from Libya. Loved it!

This was interesting and different but not a repeat for us. The sauce is lovely and the techniques work well but I think it doesn't cling enough to the tofu and green beans. I also find that an un-thickened sauce such as this doesn't have a particularly nice mouth feel.

Loved this - green beans came out perfect and still had bite. The sauce was different and delicious.

I will double the sauce next time.

I have to admit I do not like green beans, so having had some in my farm box I thought that giving them an Ottolenghi treatment would maybe change my mind. Unfortunately it did not. While the sauce on rice was ok, the whole family agreed to not repeat this one.

Really like this dish! Also delicious with halloumi instead of tofu.

  • damjih on October 21, 2020

Have made this a few times, I made the tofu into smaller domino sizes to crisp them up easier then chopped them smaller.

    Fantastic and quick dinner.

  • jenburkholder on August 04, 2020

Really good, very easy. A definite repeat. I’ve also used other vegetables than haricots - broccoli, in particular worked well.

  • luluf on August 03, 2020

This was nice but I think the tofu should be cut into smaller pieces. My son made the sauce in a large shallow frying pan and because of this, I think too much liquid evaporated as I would have liked there to be more lovely chraimeh sauce.
